I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I could hear the cold coming through in your voice. I think you are on the right track with the scaffolding and explicit instruction on how to use Google Earth. The students should pick it up rather quickly - after a few lessons in the lab. It sounds like you are nearly ready to unpack this project in the fall with your students. You will have to send your tips and tricks my way - I'm planning on using Google Earth next year for my global Alien Adventure project. My students already enjoy flying around the world, so it may as well be for a good reason=8-)
